I’m very excited for this month’s featured artist at Coffee Works!!!!

On THURSDAY NIGHT – I’ll be hosting Liz Longley and Sarah Zimmerman! Ever since we’ve started the featured artist series almost 2 years ago – I get the most requests for these 2!

Liz’s summer schedule is jammed packed with shows all over the East Cost, some with Sarah and some with her new band!

Here’s your chance to catch her in the INTIMATE SETTING of COFFEE WORKS!  I also believe this is Liz’s last show in NJ for the summer (check her website to be sure!)  Both Liz and Sarah have new CDs out this summer too!!!! If you have seen them before you know not to miss this one – if you havn’t you can thank me later!

Coffee Works welcomes back Liz Longley and Sarah Zimmerman!
Liz has a bunch of new songs and a new CD that was released this summer !
Sarah also has a brand new CD of her own to promote!

“Longley’s songs swell with honesty and genuine emotion that most of us are unable to admit to but recognize all the same.”, declared ‘The Telegraph’ of New Hampshire. Even music icon John Mayer, who surprised Liz and fellow Berklee music students when he broke into an impromptu rendition of Liz’s song ‘Queen’, has described her music as “Gorgeous…just gorgeous!”

Longley’s songwriting skills earned the Berklee College of Music Songwriting Division Achievement Award in ’08. Moreover, her song “Whatever Goes Up” was ranked No. 2 overall in the college’s well-regarded songwriting contest that year. The song also garnered the all-time No. 1 spot on Garageband.com’s folk chart for best melody and lyrics and nabbed the Grand Prize in Innovation Entertainments’ Low Budget Love Music Competition. In ’09, Liz’s songwriting abilities were again acknowledged when her song “Rush” took first place in Berklee’s annual songwriting competition. Most recently, Liz was awarded Berklee’s top songwriting honor, the Scott Benson Scholarship for outstanding achievement in songwriting.

Liz is often accompanied by guitar talent Sarah Zimmermann. The two team-up for engaging vocal harmonies and a rapport with audiences that is filling coffeehouses and venues throughout the region. Liz has performed at the Philly Folkfest, Club Passim’s in Boston, Tupelo Hall in New Hampshire, and Philly’s World Café. She has shared the stage with Colin Hay, Jeffery Gains, Nanci Griffith, Kenny Rankin, Lucy Kaplansky, Livingston Taylor, and Jonathan Edwards. Her band also just played a headlining show at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC!

Liz calls Sarah a “guitar goddess” and her “musical soul mate!” They’ve been playing together for over 5 years now. Sarah is an alumni of Paul Green’s School of Rock and has toured with Jon Anderson of Yes. Most recently she was in Sweden for a short tour with the School of Rock All Stars. She is also a songwriter of her own and has been featuring her solo material around Nashville, TN !
